ASCE has issued a report “Failure to Act” that analyzes the economic impacts to the U.S. economy from failing infrastructure

The American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) has issued a report “Failure to Act” CLICK TO VIEW REPORT that analyzes the economic impacts to the U.S. economy from failing infrastructure (e.g., roads, bridges, rails, water and wastewater). The report documents our nation’s continued failure to adequately invest in infrastructure across all sectors, including a growing funding gap in water and wastewater infrastructure.

Based on current funding levels, the projected level of funding for water and wastewater is expected to cover approximately 57% of the needs. The projected cumulative funding needs for water/wastewater services from 2020 to 2039 is $2.6 trillion, leaving a funding gap of over $1 trillion. Failure to close this funding gap is anticipated to not only impact business production, but also cause harm to public health and water quality degradation.
