During her 25+ years of public service, she has served as the CEO of the Austin Chamber of Commerce (Austin ranks 2nd best performing city), as the Texas State Director of The Nature Conservancy, the largest conservation organization in the world, and as a City Management Leader for two of the fastest-growing Texas cities in the country. She is well known as a major advocate and key influencer in the business, political/government, and public leadership communities. Laura has diverse and broad leadership experiences managing complex and multi-faceted organizations with vision, strategy, decisiveness, and integrity.
Laura’s distinguished public service record also includes 15+ years in city management for the City of Austin and City of San Marcos, where she helped safeguard water supply, strengthen the economy and protect natural assets. She brings a unique combination of conservation leadership and sophisticated economic development skills that will help WFX establish the strong connection between sustainable water infrastructure and regional economic health.
She earned a master’s degree in public affairs from The University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Science in political science from Texas A&M University.
