WFX Launches Municipal Advisory Firm

Contact: Jackson Parr, Communications and Programs Manager, jparr@waterfx.com, (630)-450-4414

Water Finance Exchange (WFX) launched a municipal advisory firm, Water Finance Exchange Municipal Advisors (WFXMA), to further its mission of helping communities access funding, financing, and expertise to implement resilient, sustainable, and equitable water infrastructure solutions.

WFXMA is an expansion of the technical assistance services provided by WFX. When seeking state or federal funding for water and wastewater projects, communities often confront affordability challenges. WFXMA can assist with structuring state and federal loans around existing cash flows to minimize rate impact and maintain financial capacity. WFXMA will help communities understand financing options to fund infrastructure projects and structure loans or bonds.

“WFXMA is a natural extension of the technical assistance Water Finance Exchange already provides communities in need,” said Rogelio Rodriguez, Director of WFXMA. “We help communities plan for projects and secure funding. WFXMA can now help communities access financial markets to bring their sustainable water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the finish line.”

Rodriguez brings more than 20 years of municipal finance experience to WFXMA, having been involved in the structuring and issuance of several billions dollars in municipal debt. In his past year at WFX, Rodriguez has led funding applications for state infrastructure programs in Texas that have resulted in more than $83 million in invited funding.

Many rural, underserved communities that WFX is engaged with lack access to a municipal advisor or other financial services, which limits their ability to secure affordable financing for infrastructure projects. Even when funding is offered through state infrastructure programs, this limitation can be a barrier to move ahead with necessary infrastructure improvements. WFXMA will bring these services to communities in need, allowing municipalities to execute financings with a trusted partner that intimately knows the community and its proposed infrastructure projects.

In addition to Rodriguez, supporting experts at WFX with experience in utility management, engineering, and state and federal regulation will provide client communities with a holistic understanding of how infrastructure projects effects the financial integrity of a water system and its ratepayers.

“At WFX, we work hard to make sure a community understands the cost of their proposed projects and how that may affect rate payers,” said Rodriguez. “WFXMA will expand that transparency in financial management for communities.”

WFXMA is fully registered with the SEC and MSRB. To learn more about WFXMA, visit our website, www.waterfxma.com.
