Workshop Report: East Texas On Ramp to Funding

On August 29, 2024, Water Finance Exchange (WFX), in collaboration with the Angelina & Neches River Authority (ANRA), and Deep East Texas Council of Governments (DETCOG) convened an “On-Ramp to Funding” workshop in Lufkin, TX.

This workshop brought together engineers, accountants, auditors, operators, and technical assistance providers todiscuss the process of applying for Federal and State funding from the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB), including the highly sought-after State Revolving Funds (SRFs) with small and rural water system managers. Participants shared information on application prerequisites, how best to maximize an applicant’s points scored in the SRF ranking process, and the timeline for submitting applications for TWDB’s consideration.

All told, representatives from more than 20 East Texas communities, water supply corporations, and other local government leaders took the time to attend the “On Ramp to Funding” workshop. They were joined by staff from WFX, ANRA, DETCOG, and additional co-hosts Communities Unlimited (CU), Goff & Herrington, P. C., KSA Engineers, Moore Accounting Services, Schaumberg & Polk, Inc. (SPI), the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality’s Small Business and Local Government Assistance Division, Texas A&M University’s Engineering Extension Services Public Works Response Team, and Texas Rural Water Association.

Generous support for the workshop was provided by the TLL Temple Foundation, with continuing support from Lyda Hill Philanthropies, the Cynthia and George Mitchell Foundation, and CoBank.
