Water Finance Exchange (WFX) is excited to welcome Monica Ellis, CEO of the Global Water Challenge (GWC), to our Governing Board. A leader in sustainable development, Monica also serves as CEO and is a founding member of the Global Environment & Technology Foundation (GETF).
Monica has worked across the globe on a range of environmental, natural resources, and economic development issues, specializing in developing high impact partnerships with companies, government agencies, civil society, and philanthropists to build more resilient communities. Her passion centers around working with vulnerable communities, assisting their efforts to gain clean water, sanitation and ultimately, economic opportunity.
Under Monica’s leadership, GWC and GETF have mobilized over $350 million for clean water access and community development efforts benefitting over 14 million people in Africa, Central and Latin America, and India. Monica has also helped launch several companies and platforms in the environmental technology, information technology, and communications sectors and is a member/advisor to numerous boards. She is a graduate of the University of Missouri and a recipient of American University’s William K. Reilly Award for Environmental Leadership.
